Definition | A recurring and re-usable form of a solution to a design problem. |
Acronym | |
Explanation | Architecture patterns provide the building blocks of a service management architecture. The term ‘pattern’ in this context is attributed to Christopher Alexander, an Austrian born American architect who argued that the whole man-built world could be (re-)created with 253 patterns (“A Pattern Language: Towns, Buildings, Construction”). The eight USM workflow templates provide eight architecture patterns for any customer-facing interaction in service management. |
