Definition That part of the organization that does not have first-line contacts with customers and users, but does provide support for service delivery.
Explanation If there is a back office, then there is also a service desk (front office), where first-line contacts with users and possibly customers are maintained. Customer contacts can be made from the back office during the handling of activities that were previously initiated by the front office.
